My name is Jonathon Campbell and I specialize in Wedding and Portrait Photography.
I think I see things differently. With photography I am trying to capture the essence of the moment as I see it. I want my images to evoke the same feeling the moment itself originally did. This isn't easy. This isn't about retouching or using the perfect lens, its about finding what the image wants. How the moment is going to be best captured, and for me, the photographer, to make sure that I don't get in the way of it.
I have a wealth of experience with retouching and editing photos. I have spent the past fifteen years working as an Art Director and Graphic Designer for movie studios, including Disney, Universal Studios, and Warner Brothers. I've also worked for various advertising agencies such as Chiat Day, David and Goliath, DDB Worldwide and Grey.
My clients have included Ferrari, Coca-Cola, ESPN, Porsche, Mattel, and Harley-Davidson
My designs and photographic retouching have appeared in numerous international publications such as Time, Newsweek, Rolling Stone, Entertainment Weekly, People and the New York Times
Almost four years ago, I decided to get a professional camera and learn to take the photographs. As soon as I got that camera in my hands, I couldn't put it down.
It's like a light went on. This is what I should be doing. I need to do this.
I have spent the past two years shooting and shooting and practicing. As an Art Director, I can take the worst photograph and retouch it to make it look amazing. That's not what I want to do anymore. I want to take amazing, evocative photographs, straight out of the camera, with minimal editing.
I want to be able to capture the feeling of a moment and translate that into an image that can last forever.
That's why I am a photographer.
